Winter Trip

February 21, 2007

We returned Sunday from our trip out to Green Valley Arizona, Las Vegas and Lake Havasu. We started in Milwaukee with the birth of our granddaughter, Lauren Simmons, on January 26th.

On Saturday morning we left for Branson where we saw Country Jamboree. Sunday morning we were up early and on the road through northwestern Arkansas, very pretty country which I wouldn't mind seeing when it's green. We finished up Sunday in Grand Prairie, Texas. Monday was Las Cruces, New Mexico and Tuesday we arrived in Green Valley. We spent a week in Green Valley at a friends house. Barb's cough was not getting any better so we went to a clinic and got an x-ray done. All we found out was that she didn't have pneumonia. I did manage to get nine holes of golf in. The big thing we accomplished was finding a place there for next winter. The original plan was to stay there for 3 months but now we may only stay there in January.

After a week we left for Las Vegas. Mom had booked us a room at The Orleans. We had a very nice stay with good meals, great visiting and a trip to mom's church. The only drawback was that there was a cheerleader competition at the Orleans. Thousands of little girls running around yelling at all hours. We moved to the Gold Coast where it was much quieter. On Sunday night we went to dinner and a show. The show was "Forever Plaid" and I would recommend it as great entertainment. All in all it was a very nice visit.

On Valentines day we left Vegas and headed to Lake Havasu City to visit some friends there. We were there only 2 days but I did manage to golf 18 holes at The London Bridge Golf Course. I think we may go there for February and March next year as the rentals costs are much much less than Green Valley.

Friday morning we left for Milwaukee but, because Barb's cough was not getting any better, we drove straight home so that she could go to the doctor on Monday.

So, now we are home for a few days. I will go to Milwaukee on Thursday to work at the Shrine Circus and return home on Sunday.
