Baby Birds

May 3, 2007

I went to one of my favorite quilt shops today and was talking with Betty. Last year they had a Robin who decided to make a nest in the wreath on the front door of the shop. Very gingerly, they moved the wreath to a window so mama Robin could continue her nesting. She did, and had 3 babies. This year no Robin's made a nest. But, Betty told me about a neat web-site: www.whatbird.com.

You can go to the web site, pick your state or any other for that matter and find birds. It gives you nesting information, the song a particular bird sings, a picture of the bird, all sorts of neat information. I thought this was really neat because we have had the good luck to have the Robins nest close by. Last week my granddaughter and our neighbor's little girl got to 'pet' a baby Robin. I found another one just tonight, 5-3-07 and thought oh my, you don't need to be out of the nest yet. I picked it up and much to my surprise, Mom and Dad were close by to tell me , PUT MY BABY DOWN!! I did, hope it survives--------

I have a soft spot in my heart for animals, birds are wonderful creatures and I love to feed them and watch them. I just thought maybe someone else might too.
