Monday Activities

May 7, 2007

Monday arrived right on time this morning so I did not miss anything. It was cloudy and wet this A.M. but that burned off and left a beautiful day to look at the wonders of the world I am surrounded with.

Ralph and I finished up on the sonar installation except for a small item that we had to drive up to Comox to get. Comox is North from here about 50 miles. We easily found the part we needed at the marine store but then spent about an hour wondering around looking at various things. We thought that Chinese food sounded "just right" for lunch so found a nice place and had a great Chinese lunch.

On the way back we detoured a bit into the woods to go back to a place we went last year when I was here. They are doing some clearing in there and Ralph wanted to see what had happened in the last year. To my eye it was terrible. A lumber company was given a contract to clear the land. Well they certainly cleared off every tree that stood, and most everything else also but left a huge mess. Apparently the area is now going to be developed into expensive homes ......... Of course -- The old greed motivation.

During the middle of the night last night I was awoken by the sounds of some kind of animal banging around in the back yard. When I got up I could see Racoon's back there playing on the lawn and tumbling all over the place. I grabbed my camera and took a non-flash dark picture (Attached). I took it to see if the Fuji folks were right about being able to take fairly good pictures in very low light. They were -- the picture is not real good and is grainy but I was about 40 feet away and used the telephoto to get the shot. Not bad after all.

I also included a couple pictures of Sea Gulls that were out here on the rocks by the ocean. They were just so beautiful also. Finally, there is this old cabin in the woods that I could not resist taking a couple of pictures of. It sits on the edge of a bluff over looking the ocean to the rear and the meadow I was standing in toward the front. It is a "Kodak" moment picture.

Well I guess this is it. We will be leaving for home on Sat. so should arrive home again on Sunday Night. I talked with Slim on the phone today and she is doing fine, having a fun, fun time with Anna. She could stay another few months but we have to go home.
