When I arrived here, Doug & Joni told me they had a surprise for me for my Christmas present and did I want it last Sat. or today. I said today. We went to a seaplane and Doug & I went for an AWESOME ride - about 20 min. long over most of the area here (Joni had already been on this flight another time). I had a hard time getting in the plane but once I got in, I felt as if I was a kid with a new toy. Most of the time we flew about 100 ft. off the water but got up to 800 ft. once and we were flying at 120 mph in a Cessna 180. I am attaching some pictures Doug took with my camera - he sat in the front seat and I sat behind him. There are high lines crossing where we had to take off and they were 70 ft. off the water so we had to clear them both taking off and landing - neat feeling. The one picture that you can see the prop in is when we were taxiing and Doug wanted to make sure he got that in. I have lots more pictures but we both figured these three would be good for now. I will save all my pictures on my computer when I get home. When we got off the plane, we went to a neat restaurant on the water (next to the seaplane) called Boon Docks. Doug & Joni didn't know it but they were closing tonight, after the dinner hours, for a winter break and will be opening on 12/26. The people told us that this couple of weeks are very slow but after 12/26 business really picks up. |
