Mrs. Gregoreks Class

Two topics today. I want to continue my talk about the state of the snowpack in the West, concentrating on Washington and Oregon today. But first I want to share my morning with you.

I had the pleasure of giving a talk on the weather today to Mrs. Gregoreks fifth grade class at Ranch View Elementary School in Ontario, California. Mrs. Gregorek and my wife teach at the same school. Weather is part of the fifth grade science curriculum. Despite a technical glitch with my Powerpoint presentation (we had the plug put into the wrong port on the projector) that got my talk off to a late start, I had a great time. The students learned about all the different categories of clouds, how clouds are formed, and some of the tools I use to help me forecast the weather every day. The students were great! I had a lot of well thought out questions questions. When I asked them a question a lot of hands went into the air wanting to answer. And I want to say that they were very well behaved too. Thanks a lot to all the students, and Mrs. Gregorek, for getting my day off to a great start! Here is a picture from my visit. I wanted to post a few pictures but it seems the technical gremlin that plagued me with the Powerpoint this morning followed me to my office. I was only able to upload one picture and it happened to be the worst picture of the bunch.

(That's Andrew in the front center.)
