The Unorthodox Gardner

April 8, 2008

Here are some pictures taken today of my latest gardening adventures. The picture of 3 bushes out back are Honey Berry, similar to a Blueberry, only long in shape and do well in the shade.

Even weeds are pretty in the spring!

My bales of straw are out front and are planted with herbs, chili peppers, jalapeno peppers and some snapdragons just cause.

The Azalea is beautiful isn't it.

The 3 buckets on the deck are green peppers, bushy plants are cherry tomatoes, scrawny tall plants are Arkansas Traveler tomatoes.

Last but not least is my "Palm Tree". I actually have 2 and both of them tell me 'It's 5 o'clock Somewhere'

My parents moved me from Sunland, California to a farm in Donahue, Iowa in the early 60's. I was not happy about moving at all! In fact I was out right mad at them for a very long time. That is until I learned to love the farm. I also learned to love to garden. I still try to garden, I'm not very good at it. Arkansas and I do not see eye to on how things should grow! But I try. It's fun to try even if we don't get 'bumper crops'.
