Got Home

June 5, 2008

Got home today at 4:45pm. Drove in steady light/mod rain from Denver to Ft Morgan. Then off and on same stuff to Julesberg (CO). Then dry for 65 miles. Craig called on the cell phone and asked if were at N Platte yet? No, we're just coming to Sutherland, 35 miles West. He said pull off interstate and wait 15-30 minutes. Right at that time we hit a wall of rain, so got the exit 1/2 mile down the road and waited. I5 minutes later, we got going again. Craig said that 8 miles SE of N Platte, there was a tornaodo on the ground when he called with the get off the road message.

Got home and Candy and I jumped on the ATV and made a garden and pond tour. Garden is sad and needs new green pepper plants, cucumber-zuccinni-acorn squash seeds in the next few days. Pond is right at the over flow pipe. Sure lots of water!

No more than got back into the garage and all hell broke loose with rain and wind that lasted 15 minutes. One shingle stood up, a metal panel on the underside of the breeze way came loose along the long side, 14' John boat blew over the wall along the driveway and big old tree out over the front bank fell into the front big ditch. That old dead snag was perfectly shaped and all the birds liked the landing place. Took 30 minutes for Candy and I to fix the shingle, fix and nail the breezeway panel and get the boat back up where it belongs - and admire the fallen tree.

That is the extent of all the problems we've had in the last 48 hrs since I went to Denver to drive Candy home.

No rain tomorrow, then the whole next week of the same kind of crap - maybe ??

Glad that's all of our problems!
