Our wonderful family reunion/birthday party had a very sad ending at 10:30 this morning. Bill got a call from his sister, Laura, in Omaha, NE. Bill's younger brother, David, died last night. He's had terrible back problems for a few years now. He and his wife, Mary, were in Norfolk, NE, visiting our (on Bill's side)Aunt Marie, who is in the hospital. They went back to the motel, climbed into bed about 1:30 AM. David had pneumonia also and was on medication for it. He told Mary last night he was cold, and they both thought it was because of the pneumonia and back problems. Mary could not wake him at 9:30 this morning and paramedics were called. It was too late. We canceled the birthday party for today and later in the week, Bill and I think we will be going to Omaha for David's funeral. |
