Roland Update

I just got off the phone with Roland at 2p Monday. He is hanging in there and has good news and ringing in ear for bad news. They did a 1/2 way along treatment scan and the tumor is almost gone already. The Dr is very pleased about that, so is Roland. His chemo stuff is very hard on the ears. He had no ear effect from the first chemo dose. but his 2nd dose the other day resulted in ringing in his ear. Dr said it probably would go away, hope so.

He had 2 more weeks thru that Thur to go ( 8/7 ), then home. Pam flys in tomorrow eve and will sit it out with him till the end of treatment. Food tastes bad, what taste he has. Been doing OK on not losing to much weight, but this 2nd chemo treatment kind of knocked his appitite again and he said they probably would gripe at him for weight loss again at the end of this week. He gets one more chemo treatment, but a much milder, different stuff. So far no feeding tube.

They tell him that the week after he leaves, the pain will continue to go up, as the radiation still will be working and it is accumlative. He said he can't wait for all that fun. He still has a positive attitude and says that what ever it takes, he'll take to get well and get over this crap. I guess thats all anybody can ask for.

Talked hunting dogs as he has a new one year old French Brittney bitch. She knows her hunting stuff and is lots of fun around the house. That talk brought a smile to his face, him telling me about his dog.
