Blue Angels

What a great time we had watching the Blue Angels. On Friday, August 1st, they put on the final practice before the weekend festivities of Seafair. This year we planned ahead and it payed off.

First, Cheryl decided to take every other Friday off so we could have some weekends together. She timed them so that one would land on the Seafair weekend. Second, we decided to get closer to the action than we had been before. This year we chose to go to Mercer Island and get as close to the water as we could. The actual show is performed over Lake Washington, near the I-90 floating bridge. They closed the bridge to vehicular traffic an hour before the show. The Highway Patrol then let people right onto the roadway.

We both had our digital cameras ready to go. We were determined to get some good pictures. As it turned out, we were lucky to get to the front of the crowd on the bridge and had an open view of the show area.

The air show lasted about an hour and was one of the best we'd seen in a long time. After the show we drove over to the Museum Of Flight at the airport where the jets were parked. We got to see the planes on the ground and even a couple of the pilots. After visiting the souvenir store, we headed on home to check out just what we got for pictures.
