Bowser

Good Morning to Everyone,

Slim and I left Bellingham yesterday (Thursday) in the morning heading for Vancouver Island and on to Bowser. We crossed the border and went to the ferry terminal in Vancouver to board the ferry to "Duke Point" on the island. The trip takes a bit over two hours and was most enjoyable.

We arrived on schedule then headed North toward Bowser which is about 45 miles away. There was a huge traffic tie up in the first ten miles of the trip North due to a truck going out of control, went over the edge of the highway, and knocked over a really big light standard. It was a mess. Once we passed that I got off the highway and went down to the coastal road to come the remainder of the distance. The coast highway is slower but sooooooo beautiful.

We arrived at Ralph's about 4 P.M. and blended right into the activities that were going on here. This morning we are going over to Coomb's Store as they have an unusual feature there-- goats live on the roof of the store. Part of the store is underground so the pasture goes on right over the business. It is so funny to see goats there feeding as you go in. I will try to get some pictures to show you. Once we leave there we are going inland to an old forest where the trees are so very big and old. Some of the trees are over 800 years old. This forest is one of the last existing natural forests where the trees are as they were from the long past. It is beautiful in there.

Tonight we are going to BBQ salmon that Ralph caught during his last fishing trip to Alaska. The fish is so fresh and pure from those cold waters. Beyond this we have no plans exactly.

I have included some pictures but could not label them as I am connected through a Canadian server to "Juno mail on the web". For some reason it will not accept the pictures if I rename the photo. I do not know why but I am not going try to fool the computer as it is not mine. The photos are self explanatory. There is a picture of Carol and me at the ferry terminal standing under a beautiful dolphin stature, then us driving onto the ferry (which is very large), a picture of a inner island light house we passed on the ferry ( this picture is not real good as it was an extreme long distance photo and finally a picture of the sunrise this morning here on the beach ( beautiful start to the day with a cup of hot coco).

Slim and I are having a very good and relaxing time. I did not realize how much we both needed this rest. My blood pressure has gone down about 50 points as I feel relaxed.

The best to all of you from Slim and I from Bowser B.C.
