Snake

If you want excitement, live around Barbara Lawrence. When I got home from church this afternoon, Bella wouldn't come out from behind the north glider chair in my "front room". I looked back there and could see something strange so I went to get my grabber/reacher, pulled the chair out and a baby snake went under my bookcase. That was at 12:35. I called Daryl and asked him where he was and he said they had just went into Wal-Mart in Mt. Pleasant on their way home from church.

I stood with the grabber in my hand until 12:55, watching, and while I was standing there, Bella was behind the other glider chair barfing so maybe she ate some of the snake. It wasn't hair ball though and this is the first time she's barfed since I had her. I then turned the chair around and sat in it and watched to see if the snake would come out. It didn't. Daryl & Jan got here at 1:45 and he proceeded to put sticky mouse traps under the book case and then used my grabber to see if he could find the snake. Jan suggested pulling the bookcase out from the end wall and there was the snake. Daryl and the snake "fought" for a bit and Daryl finally got it with the grabber. Jan said it was a blue racer and she said they will chase you. Daryl took it out and chopped it's head off.

I have ever so tiny of a crack under one corner of my screen door and that's where the snake must have come in. I'm going out tomorrow and buy some sulphur to put around my cottage because ever since we've lived here, people have told us to put that around the edges of the yard as a snake won't cross its line.

What an exciting afternoon. I didn't scream though when I saw the snake because no one to hear me. But I didn't even think of screaming but did get very nervous. Living out in the country certainly has it's share of different things to cope with.
