Hurricane Ike

Thought I'd give you the latest update from here in north east Texas, and what you might see on TV about Hurricane Ike coming at us. As everyone knows, once a hurricane hits land, the winds diminish WAY down, so they say by the time it gets up here, we may see winds in the 35 to 45 mph range, with 3 - 5 inches of rain forecast for Saturday. We've had 3 inches of rain in a couple hours before, it just gives us a good soaking. When I was at SkyDive Las Vegas, they would stop skydiving when the winds hit 32 mph and above, just too hard for them to land their chutes very easy, so wind is no biggy either.

That also reminds me of Palmdale, an every day occurence of 30+ winds. Everyone needs to realize, we are about 400 miles inland, from the gulf of Mexico, so by the time it gets here, it's a non event. Then it goes over to Susie and will give them some rain too.

So far, they haven't evacuated Houston, so guess it may not be as bad as they thought. It's still a cat 2 storm also, let's hope it fizzles out like Gustav did a couple weeks ago.
