Steam Engine #3985

I chased this steam engine today as it was Eastbound past our place. The first picture is her going by the crossing 5 miles South of our house. She was doing track speed of 69 mph. I could have swore I saw Jack at the throttle! I suppose it wasn't him, but he'd be having a fine day if it was.

The second picture is taken at the Kearney train station as she was coming in for a 30 min stop. The crew gets out and greases all the drive fittings and makes sure all is in good shape. They make this kind of stop every 3 hrs or so. Off she went heading for Missouri Valley, IA for the night tonight.

Tomorrow its off for South St Paul, MN (Minneapolis area) to be on display for the weekend. I'll see her again as she is steaming Westbound on 10/2. She is kept at the UPRR shops in Cheyenne WY.

No better fun than chasing a steam engine!
