Doug & Joni arrived in Mt. Vernon about 2:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and just left at 1:30 p.m. today (Sat.). Not a very long stay but fun to have them here. Jan's parents had the Thanksgiving dinner at their house and we had more than our fill of food which was all VERY delicious.
Daryl, Doug & Joni all drove to McKinney yesterday morning to buy a new part for one of Doug's wheels on his Nissan Murano. On their way back home, they dropped Joni off at the movie (12:52) in Sulphur Springs (west of Mt. Vernon) and I met her there within about 3 or 4 minutes as I was coming from Mt. Vernon for a 1:05 p.m. movie. Joni and I saw the movie "Australia" and we would HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone. It is 2 hr. & 45 min. long but it didn't begin to seem like it - a good adventure movie and all filmed in Australia.
Daryl made dinner for all of us last evening, including Jan's daughter Deanna and her husband Zack as they arrived Thanksgiving afternoon also. We had some good rain yesterday but the guys were able to do the car repair in the carport without getting wet so that worked out okay.
I made a pot of lentils yesterday morning (only a half batch) so Daryl, Jan, Doug & Joni had those for lunch today.
Doug & Joni plan to drive to Vicksburg today and I think it's close to four hrs. from here but can't remember exactly. The motel they want to stay at is right on the edge of the Mississippi River in MS. I stayed there when I came home from Doug's last Dec. and it's neat because it's right on the river and are all casinos. I'm enclosing three pictures I took today. Click here to see the pictures. |
