"Benjamin had his eyes open for about 15 minutes today. It sure was fun to see him so awake for a little while!" said Margaret.
Ben is now 13 days old and getting stronger each day. He was born at 5#15oz and now weighs 6#4oz, so mamma's milk is doing just fine. He is still only being fed thru a tube, but they plan on in the next few days trying to learn to nurse. The Dr says that sucking, swallowing, breathing in no easy task to learn. He gets that nursing down pat and he ought to be out of jail. He still has a nasal canula for a little supplemental oxygen. He gets 25% oxygen and room air is 21%. The oxygen stuff is about done any day now. It has been quite an ordeal, but so far all of our prayers have been answered. A few more and we'll seal the deal. Then its home to grow big and strong and join his brother and sister in trying all the tricks kids do.Cliff
