What A day

Oh my what a day today was. It began around 7 AM. We thought we would sleep in, it was Saturday, why not. I guess the outside world had other ideas. We woke up to sirens screaming up North Hills Blvd which is only about a block and a half from our house. OK, no more sleep. I looked out the window and an ambulance was headed up our street, full blast it seemed. I don't know where it went, didn't bother to find out. Just got out of bed, though no rest for the wicked and headed straight to the shower. After my shower, some coffee, a quick read of the paper, we were off to Lowe's for guttering and things to hang it with. Bill did that, I shopped the nursery area. Got a couple Mandevilla's for 3.00 each. On clearance, not as pretty as the current ones, but still very viable plants. I also got 4 Tiki Torches, a large tub, some bug killer, a couple variegated Ivy plants and some African Violet soil.

After bringing that home, we headed out to Hoggs Meat Market and picked up a couple filet mignons, some hamburger and Salisbury steaks. Again, it was back home, deposit fresh meat in fridge, Salisbury steaks in freezer.

Then it was out to England to pick up my truck. James has had it for the last week and repaired many many things that were in serious need of repair. My truck is a 1987 dodge ram charger. We got it brand new in December of 1986. Needless to say, it's a part of me by now. I can't begin to tell you all the things James did, but it was a ton of stuff and only 500.00. James, his dad, his brother and his daughter all drive race cars. Anita is about 26 or so and drives the rails in the quarter mile. Little bitty thing. Just got her diploma today for CPA.

James knows his stuff when it comes to vehicles. Got the truck, drove it from England AR to Jacksonville, about 40 - 50 miles. Just before the BP gas station about a mile from Bobby's house, it crapped out on me. I coasted into the BP. Truck acted like it was out of gas and sure enough, it drank 30+ gallons. Keep in mind, we did not get the fuel gauge fixed, nor did we get the speedometer/odometer fixed. But even after filling the truck up with gas, it would not run. It would start, but it would not stay running. Bobby came, messed with it some and got it to run and then said shut it off, it's dumping gas. And sure enough it was. come to find out, there was a crud in the carb. James came, took a little piece out, squirted some carb cleaner in that empty hole, put it back together and truck runs like a dream. I watched him and now I know what to do if it does it again. Before James worked on the truck he took a very hot pressure washer to the truck outside and in the engine compartment. I didn't know it was that white inside there.

After getting the truck running again, I took Bobby back to his house. Michael's little girl, Chloe, was there. She is now 4 almost 5. She came, curled up in my lap and said I love you Gramma. Tears fell. It was so special. I don't see her much at all and this meant a ton to me. Autumn did not want to be outdone, so she wiggled her way onto my lap and said I love you too, Gramma. More tears. Doesn't get much better than that!!!

Now I am home, sitting on my front deck, listening to my fountain bubble and enjoying my Tiki lights. We had a wonderful dinner of filets, baked potatoes and steamed fresh cauliflower. Today life was good, it was long day, but worth every single minute.
