New Pittsburg Hospital Ribbon-Cutting

Pittsburg TX is a "town" of about 4700 people and also the home of Pilgrim's Pride chickens.

I decided to go to the new Pittsburg hospital ribbon-cutting ceremonies today because it was just too nice to stay home. It's about 28-30 miles from where I live. What a place!!!! I would bet that the old hospital would fit in about 1/3 of the new one (maybe a little more) but it is huge and beautiful. The Olympic Center is separate and I took a shuttle from the hospital to there (all on the same grounds). All top-of-the line new exercise equipment and lots of it plus a good sized swimming pool. They have a separate area just for the aerobic exercise programs they have set up.

I saw the KLTV (Tyler ABC station) reporter and talked to her as she was on her way in as she had been out front filming the opening ceremonies. There were LOTS of people there and even some that I knew. The Pittsburg High School band and cheerleaders were outside doing their thing. There is even a fountain and lots of water on the inside of the entrance along with trees that are fully grown, at least they look like it. Lots of mature plants also. All in all, it's the most modern hospital I've ever been in. The hospital will actually open on 9/23. The brochure says this is a $38 million capital project.

I was glad I went after I got there because it was so gorgeous outside today even though it was pretty warm (91 on my way home). After being so cool lately, today's temps were a real shock - but NO rain.
