Texas Ride

I drove to Tyler today and took the long way going down - 90.2 miles - and the short way coming home - 71.5 miles. One thing about driving in east TX, it is so gorgeous with ALL THE TREES and hills. Going down it is like a forest most of the way with mostly pine trees. Coming home also lots of trees but a lot of regular trees - lots of oaks - mixed in with the pine. I left here at 12:15 and got home at 4:45. It was cool because it was windy and the temps were in the mid 60's but it felt a lot cooler. Some of the trees have already lost their leaves and are bare - seemed strange to me so early in the Fall.

I needed to get my car out on the road is one of the reasons I went for a ride today because most of the miles it gets on it is in the city and that's not good. The other reason is that it was just too gorgeous to stay home when more rain is headed our way next week. I saw LOTS of places today where there has never been ponds or lakes before and when I crossed two of the rivers, they were definitely out of their banks. Still lots of ditches with more than enough water in them from ALL the rain we've had lately.
