Rain Part 2

I just copied all of this, out of the paper, to send to my friend Kim, who used to live right on Lake Cypress Springs as I knew she would be interested.

Eastern TX has more flooding than they've had in who knows how long because of so much rain. Marshall had to call out the reservists to help people that are stranded and they even took a special helicopter to the airport to air lift people that have no way of leaving their homes due to the high water everyplace a person looks. We see pictures on the TV news every night that a good portion of the eastern part of the state looks like an all around lake.

The paper said Lake Cypress Springs is 2-1/2 feet above normal pool. The rainfall record for October was broken as of Monday, Oct. 26 through Tue. at 7 a.m. - 18.37 inches had been recorded in Mount Vernon. The previous record for October was 17.41 inches established in 1984. A total of 68.01 inches of rain has fallen thus far in 2009. The previous yearly record was 66.74 inches and was recorded in 2000.

David Weidman, general manager, said "We are also trying to contact the registered owners of drifting boats and advising them of the locations the boats and watercraft are secured.

He reminds everyone that Lake Cypress Springs has a fixed spillway structure (the Morning Glory). "We have no gates to open and no way to release water any faster than what flows out of the Morning Glory".
