Wed Morning Snow Report

December 9, 2009
By Cliff Chamberlin

What a wild ride for a snow storm. I blew hard all night and this morn it is gin clear skies, no wind and -5. We had about 8" of snow and it is totally rearranged. My front side walk and the sidewalk along the garage is 3ft deep drift. My driveway is blown clean most of it. I cannot see my driveway where it turns and goes down to the road, but the wind surely blew that clean as well.

I don't know where all the snow is, but not at my house. I can see the county road in front of my house and it shows gravel mixed snow. So it is passable I suppose. I'd hate going East on it down thru the 2 big gullies. They darn near must be drifted? The plow will be by today and then its open for sure both ways.

Will ride the train to Denver tomorrow morn at 2:30am, or when the train gets to Holdrege to pick me up. This morning it was 4 hours late. The radar shows no snow left in Nebraska or Iowa, so the train will have a easier ride tonight than it had last night thru the blizzard. This rail line that I ride along has plenty of frieght trains each day, so it will get well traveled and blown open now.

Will shovel the walk later this morn and ride my ATV out the driveway to clean up what little there is.

No snow around here till Sunday, maybe? Just cold and a breeze. Maybe a high of 25 for Saturday?
