Blizzard

Our blizzard is finally getting over. No more power outages since yesterday at 5pm. This morning it is 8 degrees and the winds are down to 20 mph - gusts to 25. That's 1/2 of what the winds were all day yesterday. I can see good breaks in the clouds and the sun will shine thru when it gets up soon. We're heading for 22 degrees today and 28 tomorrow with all sun. It appears we got about 4-5" of snow total since Wed morning. Some drifts around here are 6ft tall.

One of Candy's sisters lives near Lincoln NE and she had 8" of snow and the wind like us. She said her drifts were 8ft or better. Another sister in Omaha said they got 14" of snow and the the same winds, Have not talked to the 3rd sister in West Iowa, but they got more snow than Omaha and still the winds. What fun in the middle of the US for Christmas this year.

Craig had his shift today from 6am to 5pm. He got out and 4wd his truck thru some nasty drifts and got to work at 5:50am. The door was locked. He sat there and listened to his radio and it said Cableas call center was opening this morning at 9am. But that word first came on the radion at 6:15a. So he drove back home.

Tammy will open her store today at noon, maybe. Candy is the babysitter today for Madison and we were prepared to be at Tam's house at 8:15am so she could leave and open at 9am, regular store hours. She will call her Saturday employees at 8am and survey them to see if she even can gets some help to come in at noon. Maybe her store will be closed all day? At least I don't have to get mom to her house till 11:15am this morning at a minimum.

They say there was some snow over night from the wrap around as the front passed thru Iowa. No more snow in the forcast thru the coming week and upper 20s and sun. You don't have to shovel sun. My driveway is almost all blown clean, so I have very little shoveling to do. My front sidewalk always drifts and that will take some shovel action.

Good day to stay inside and be a good boy.
