Vegas Visit

The first weekend in February things came together for me to visit with Mom in Las Vegas. A spur of the moment decision on Friday caused me to check the next Tuesday for day off availability. Sure enough it was, so I put my name in for it. Then I called Cheryl from work and asked her to check for flights. When I got home I was checked in and my boarding passes for Sunday's flights were on my desk.

Mom had been struggling with a cold and I just wanted to check in on her. The Delta flight from Seattle to Las Vegas had a stop in Salt Lake City. That made each leg a little over an hour. The weather was perfect and both flights were very smooth.

I arrived about four in the afternoon and with no checked luggage was able to grab a cab real quick. Mom was a bit tired when I got there, but appeared in good spirits. I guess just waiting for me to arrive wore her out a bit. We ran a quick errand and stopped for dinner before settling in for an evening of just visiting.

We talked about the new wall they were building around the condo complex. They seemed to be doing a very nice job. We also went over how to setup and use the new digital camera she got the week before. This made for a very busy Sunday.

Monday we took a quick trip to the doctor, just to make sure, and no, there were no severe issues. Not much you can do for a cold but wait it out. We spent the rest of the day playing with the new camera and on the computer working with Word. Dinner was nearby and we just kept talking through the evening.

My flight home left Las Vegas at four on Tuesday, so we spent the morning looking at old pictures and sharing memories. It was a great way to end a quick visit. Mom was doing much better.
