Tri-Cities Turnaround

Last weekend we went to visit Artie and Heidi. It was a two day trip to Kennewick including some time to check out a museum there. As part of the trip we wanted to try some new video techniques and play with our new GPS device.

We left on Sunday, about 1pm, and made our first stop at the Starbucks in North Bend. We added the location to the GPS as a favorite. We had some recent snow, so the mountains were very pretty as we cruised across Snoqalmie pass at just over 3000 feet. This trip we tried a new trick with the video camera. We mounted it on a tripod in the car. While we were concerened about road vibrations, the up and down motion from hand holding was eliminated. Later we found no real problem with vibration either. The scenes going through the mountains were great.

The four hour ride went quickly as we played with the camera. Artie planned ahead and was actually at the resturant waiting when we arrived in town. We picked up Heidi and drove on down to the Olive Garden. We had a delicious meal and got all caught up on the latest with Heidi's pregnancy and Artie's job as a recruiter.

Afterwards we headed back to their apartment where they set up the WII and we worked off dinner with bowling, golf and a bit of tennis. The kids have been practicing and knew a few tricks! Then John took the recruiter entrance exam and actually passed. He won't be joining due to an age issue. Cheryl got busy with Heidi hemming some new pants for Heidi. Just a little homemaker stuff to do for the evening.

On Monday we met with Heidi and went to The Columbia River Exhibition of History, Science and Technology. There were a couple of older gentlemen who volunteered there who had worked at the Hanford nuclear facility many years ago. The place was very fascinating and we both carried cameras through the museum and didn't take a picture. It was fun to see things we recognized in the museum. There was a sliderule on an antique desk and Cheryl said she has two in her desk. They also had a chair just like the three we have. Nice to know your stuff fits well in a museum.

We left in the early afternoon, took more video on the ride home, and arrived by about 6pm. It was a really nice way to spend a couple of days off. Enjoy the pictures!
