LA Marathon

Just wanted to tell you how everything went with Andrew in the LA Marathon.

We woke up at 3am to get ready for the LA Marathon. We got ready and met the rest of the runners at Andrew's school so we could caravan to Dodger Stadium where the Marathon starts. We got to the stadium at around 5:30 in the morning. There were already thousands of people there getting ready. All of the SRLA kids (which is what Andrew is a part of) met inside the stadium and had a group picture taken as well as a "pep rally" for all of the kids.

Once all of the pictures and instructions were given, the runners stretched and kept preparing for the race. The LA Marathon started at around 7am for the wheelchair division then followed by the elite women's then elite men's divisions. Then finally at around 8am the rest of the runners started their run. Here is a cool video off of Youtube that shows the LA Marathon course and where Andrew ran. Pretty Cool!

Andrew ran very well and the route of the LA Marathon ran from Dodger Stadium through Hollywood, Beverly Hills and finally ending in Santa Monica. This was the first year they had this route and it was the 25th anniversary of the LA Marathon as well. Wes and I found spots along the route and cheered Andrew and the rest of his school mates running with cow bells and a sign we made. Andrew finished the marathon in 6hrs 45min. He looked well after his run and was glad he didn't fall or get any blisters.

We are so proud of him!!!!!!!
