Spring Is An Active Time

Our Purple Catalpa tree is no more. We got tired of the debri and the short time span the leaves were out. So, as we planned for other use of the space, we cut the tree down before it got too large for us to handle. Even still, the final cutting was a chore.

The Easter dinner was a fun affair having the kids here. Artie and Heidi managed to get over the Snoqualmie pass on Saturday and spent the night with us. Allen got here around noon. We all enjoyed the leg of lamb and fixin's. We talked a lot about babies and names and the fun of raising kids. By 4pm it was all over as Artie and Heidi wanted to cross the pass in the daylight.

While we planted the tulips late, they still popped up on time and are just now opening. We put about 120 bulbs around the front of the Rhododendron garden. Half were 18 inch tall plants and half were 12 inches. We thought our crazy spring weather was going to stunt their growth, but I think they will be just fine. While we decided last year that we didn't want any more vergetable gardens, we did plant a couple of tomato plants and left room for the bell peppers and onions. This year, in the ground, no pot garden.

Now we prepare for the big moving trip. Final arrangements are being made and soon we will know what our motel arrangements will be. Lists of items to be packed and to do are growing. We are just about as excited as Nana. It's a big job and there's lots to consider. Hopefully nothing will be forgotten or left behind.
