Afternoon Drive

I went to Wendy's for lunch and then as I was driving home, I thought about how I always wanted to go up Willis so I did. Did I ever enjoy that ride and it took me to De Moines - fell in love with the area but mostly because it's along the water. I drove all around there, found the Marinas and just thoroughly enjoyed myself. There is an Anthony's Home Port Restaurant there where you can sit outside to eat, if you want. It is behind the breakwater but still able to see the water - what a huge breakwater they have there. It was much cooler there than here.

When I got home, Kathy was still on her lunch hour sitting outside so I started talking to her about where I had went. She asked me if I had been to Redondo yet so I told her "that's in CA" and she said there is one here also. She told me to go back up Willis (Kent/Des Moines Road) and turn left onto 99 and about 3 miles down the road, there is an exit for Redondo Beach. She said they even have a boardwalk so that's my next venture to the water. Kathy said that almost every area that has a beach also has an Anthony's Home Port. She asked me if I had ever been to Alkai so I told her I think it was in '98 when we went there. She said she is going to her daughter's this weekend and will find out what off ramp I need off the I-5 as she passes the off-ramp then. She said there is an excellent bakery in Alkai that also has the best soup you probably ever ate. What a gorgeous day for a ride and I never even got out of the car.

Now that I know how close I am to a Marina, I will probably be spending a lot of time in one of these places as they are close by. Sure glad I'm in an area where I can get to the water so easy as that's always my "haven" - all those negative ions are "fresher" there than inland.
