Senior Trip

Wow, what a good time I had today (Wednesday). Trinna (friend from church) met me at the Senior Center and we got on the van instead of one of the two buses - close to 50 people went. I met three other women on the van and the four of us yakked both ways. One of the ladies (Jerri) lives in Webster Court so she invited me to come join them at the Senior Center to play Pinochle. Really nice ladies and I am BLESSED to be here, especially being it's summer and we can enjoy all this gorgeous weather.

We drove to Kanaskat-Palmer State Park - what a gorgeous place if you've never been there. The group of people that got the food ready had been there since 8 a.m. and Cindy made salads like you've never seen in your life. John bought whole Red Eye salmon from Fred Meyer and then filleted it. He put it in aluminum foil with some herbs, lemon juice and onions on top of the salmon in each package and then sealed the package. They had 3 BBQ grills up there that belong to the Senior Center and then he cooked the salmon, in the foil, on them with the lid on. I doubt I have ever eaten salmon that was as good. It wasn't even begin to be dry but it was done.

Cindy also made all kinds of desserts, so along with all the salads (4 or 5 of them), the salmon, rolls, butter, lemonade or ice water and dessert, we had an absolute beautiful meal. They had enough fish that if a person wanted seconds they could so I got a small piece for my second. Trinna, Darlene (who lives in this building and we decided we would start going places together) and I all walked "down" to the river over the most uneven ground you could find along with all the big tree roots sticking up in the air. It was a climb back up but I made it without stopping. It was the Green River and had some falls right where we were. My good camera was in my purse, in the van, so I took pictures with my cell phone but I don't know how to get them off - never done that with this new camera.

Where we were was just outstandingly gorgeous and the weather couldn't have been nicer. To begin with, both Trinna and I said that $38 was a lot of money for lunch but after we saw all the food, how well prepared it was, the surroundings and the bus ride, both of us said it was worth every penny. She now wants to get involved with things at the Senior Center, which she'd NEVER done even after her husband passed away almost three years ago.

When I got home I had a message from Kathy downstairs wondering if I was okay because they hadn't seen me for a few days. I went back down and told her where I'd been and she said she figured I was out doing something.

When I got my mail today, I had an invite to lunch at some people's house from church that live on Camano Island on Sat., Aug. 14th, which I will plan to go to. We can go to the church at 10 a.m. and ride to their house in the new church bus.

Trinna couldn't quit thanking me for inviting her because she had never been there before and she's lived here over 50 years.
