Cheryl, a friend (Linda) here in the building I live in, and I went to a dance recital on Friday at the Kent Senior Center. It was a "Dance & Desert Fundraiser" for the Center. Performing were dancers Erik & Ricky. They were semifinalists from 2009 "America's Got Talent".
These two kids are ballroom dancers and are fantastic. They live in Everett WA, just north of Seattle. The sister of Ricky, who is 12 and her dance partner who is 14, also danced in our show. All four of these kids are headed to England to compete in the World Championships where they also competed last year which Erik & Ricky won.
Money from ticket sales went for our cafeteria. Our cafeteria is as good as any restaurant a person would want to go to. Everything is homemade in the cafeteria. They have some well thought up menus for Monday through Friday and they charge $6 per meal. Funds for the cafeteria are supplemented by the City of Kent. Because of the economy, not as many people are eating there as they used to. Now we've been having some fund raisers to help supplement the program.
An evening well worth going to and I was so happy that Cheryl was able to go with me.
