Seattle Seahawks Weekend

October 23-24, 2010
By Heidi Cardona

This weekend started by going to the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton, WA on Saturday. This is the Seahawks training center and where all of their offices are located. The Seahawks Women’s Association put on an event called Football 101. This event was only open to the first 125 people and it was to teach the women the very basics of football so that when we watch it with our husbands or boyfriends we can chime in right along with them and know what we are talking about.

They also had a few players there from the team, and the most surprised player was Matt Hasselbeck who is the Seahawks Quarterback. They also had Colin Cole their Defensive tackle and John Ryan who is their kicker. We also had a great pleasure in meeting Pete Carroll their Head Coach. We had a chance to get some pictures of them and also get their autographs. We also got to go and do some drills on their practice field inside the VMAC. AWESOME!! Overall that was a really good Saturday!

Sunday Artie had to work the before game by raffling off a replica helmet with Matt Hasselbeck’s autograph. We had to be there at the Qwest Field at 8 a.m. which meant we were up at 6 a.m. The recruiter’s also set up a rock wall for both kids and adults but mostly kids went up it. They also had a football tossing area set up and if anyone could make all three balls go into the hole they won a fleece hat.

Artie and I were given tickets from some season ticket holders because they didn’t want to hang out in the rain I guess. The seats were located right underneath the box seats in the end zone. Perfect location because not only was it a good view but also we were kept dry from the rain. The Army had a very good venue set up and we had a lot of people stop by. When the game started we all packed everything and headed inside to watch the game.

We were playing against the Arizona Cardinals and guess what? WE WON!! YEAH!!! The score was 22-10. So because of this win we are now number 1 in our NFC WEST Division. Once the game was over we headed back to Mom and Dad’s to have some dinner and we chatted for a while talking about the game and also just catching up. We didn’t leave Mom and Dad’s house until almost 7 which means we got home around 11 at night. It was definitely a long day but it was a very good weekend! Thank you Artie! Enjoy the pictures!
