Dance

Our building had a few people get together bringing food downstairs for New Year's Eve but a lot of people showed up, including me starting at 6 p.m. One of the guys put some CD's on for music and a number of the tenants were dancing with each other.

Darlene and I stayed downstairs until a little after 7 and then went next door to "Park" who has a new manager. She is some gal (55 years old), full of life and was dancing with all the men that showed up in their community room. There were six of us that went over there from our building but the other four didn't stay as Darlene and I did. They had live music (not good but it was live) and one couple who I'm sure were approaching 90 got out to dance which they said they probably haven't done in 30 years. They were pushed by the manager and the gal singer - they could barely walk. They didn't move except back and forth but at least they got out of their "rut" - it was so sweet.

The two-piece band was only supposed to play until 9 but we didn't leave until 9:10 and they were still playing. All the people over there made Darlene and I so welcome and the manager went overboard making us welcome. The manager even gave us a whistle and a noise maker. She has it in her mind to have all three buildings work and play closer together and not to be so separate.

When we got back here the people were just cleaning up our community room. It was a fun evening because we did something different. Even though I saw it was 26 when I got home, it didn't feel cold at all and I didn't even need gloves but I guess because it was so dry outside - 50% humidity now at 10:15 p.m. We stood in the parking lot looking up at the stars - totally clear sky - and that's the first time I've ever done that because I'm never outside that late.
