Our outing today took us to the Pacific Science Center to see the 37th Annual Model Railroad Show. There were several buildings there, each with numerous train layouts. All scales where represented from "Z" to "O". It was fun to see the variety of layout design and how the different model railroad clubs worked. There were 11 clubs represented at the Center.

Many of the newest model railroad system utilize digital control systems. This allows them to run multiple engines on the same track. The club members may build a section according to the club specifications, and use it at home or at a show like we saw today. It was fun to see the different sections yet watch the trains move smoothly through the whole display.

While the bigger scales were easy to work with, the smaller scales allowed for more realism in the layout. The "N" scale seemed to be a very popular scale. There were many large displays with multiple trains running. There was even a nice, compact display put together by kids ranging in age from 7 to 15. Throughout the show, the clubs used sectional tables that connected together to form the layout.

After touring the model train show, we went to the Boeing Imax Theater to watch Tron in 3D. We had perfect seats and enjoyed the show. We watched the first Tron movie last night on DVD, just to refresh as it has been well over twenty years since it came out. It was fun then and the new one was fun today.

After the movie we picked up Mom and headed to one of our favorite restaurants for Italian dinner. On the way, we noticed the Green River was near the top of its banks. They are controlling the flow, but they are making it move.
