Elvis Show - Danny Vernon

I was downstairs by 9:30 this morning and Darlene then called a cab to come pick us up to take us to the Senior Center to see "Elvis", Danny Vernon. We were there by 9:45 and waited then for Heidi (my hairdresser) and her mother. We were served box lunches at noon provided by Stafford Suites - an assisted living home next to the Senior Center. They called tickets by numbers for seating at the 1st performance (12:45) and being we had such a low number, we got to sit in the front row. Danny Vernon did Elvis a lot of justice today.

Last Aug. Graceland held an Elvis impersonators performance for singers from all over the world to find the top 10 best impersonators. Danny Vernon was "endorsed" by Graceland to be in the top 10 and he certainly is good (hard to tell his voice from Elvis, especially on some songs). When I saw him in an outside performance, I didn't care for him but he was excellent today. I took MANY pictures but had to delete a good many because he was so active that the pictures were blurry. His wife, Marsha, is a real cutie and is his back-up singer as well as singing at his "half-time" so he can go change to a jump suit.

Darlene and I stayed for the 2nd performance (2:30) and Linda joined us and again, we were right in front as we had saved our seats from the 1st performance. Being Linda was there, she gave Darlene and I a ride home and we didn't get here until a little after 4 p.m. I'm totally shot from such a long day doing nothing but eating and sitting.

There were over 250 people in the first performance but I don't know how many were in the 2nd - probably close to 200. Tickets were $7 for the 1st performance and $6 for the 2nd (they didn't get box lunches). Quite a few people from the 1st performance stayed for the 2nd. Danny donated all the proceeds from the first performance as a fundraiser for the Senior Center cafeteria. Danny Vernon made his first public appearance as Elvis on the Kent Senior Center stage about 15 or more years ago so he feels beholden to our Senior Center. They split the proceeds from the 2nd performance with Danny and the Senior Center. There were 8 people from Stafford Suites and being they were the sponsor (for our box lunches, which they made), they set up chairs in front of us at the 1st performance along with the people in wheelchairs.

We talked to people from other areas that were there and they couldn't believe what a gorgeous Senior Center we have. Everyone we talked to said this is the nicest senior center they've ever been in, no matter where. How BLESSED I am to be 1-1/2 miles from this Center. We had a group of 30 Red Hatters from a ways from here - not sure how far they came but it wasn't close as I wasn't familiar with their city.
