This time the bus

For the past 4 1/2 yrs I've riden the train to Denver everyother Thur morn, to drive Candy back to Kearney after working a week. The past 3 months the train has had big time troubles. getting thru Western Iowa and Easter Nebr due to the flood on the Missouri River. The river is so far out of its banks, the records don't even had an idea how to measure it

The train has been as much as 12hrs late Westbound ( what I deal with ) each day. That puts the crews ( condutors and engineers ) way out of sync. So this last Tue and Wed, Amrtak cancelled departures from Chicago and San Franisco for 2 days in a row. This would get their crews rested according to Federal law and put their trains on positon to be used as planned.

Of cource, the Wed det from Chicago meant my train from Holdrege NE was cancelled. So I took the bus from Kearney to Denver. That was an experience ! The bus got into Denver on time, 6:20p and Mugsy picked me up. A straight shot to our favoriet Mexican retruant for the last 25 yrs - 2 Marguriets later and chile rellanoes later the bus didn't seem too bad !

I spent the night at Dan and Mugsy's and had a fine time with my daughter taking her out for Mex food dinner. Dan and the kids were at his folk's house for dinner, as Dan's sister was heading back to Minn. A good time was had by all

I drove Candy home today and that was the same 5 1/2hr drive we do everyother week. Very easy with no snow or ice

Wish the train gets in shape fast,
