Volcano News

By Susie & Bill Devries

Bill is in Guatemala. Someone drove a loader into a 767 and punched a 6-8" hole in the side of the plane. Broke a couple ribs and such also. Extensive repair, much more than just sheet metal. Bill left on Saturday Oct 22. First stop, Guatemala for a temp fix to make the plane air-worthy. Then a free ride on the 'broke plane' to San Juan, Costa Rica. That was supposed to be happening on Wednesday this week. It didn't happen. Where he is now, is anyone's guess. Guatemala? Costa Rica? In the air? I don't know.

Our phones do not work internationally so I wait for an e-mail. He has sent me pictures of the volcano in Guatemala from his phone. Hopefully he got some good pictures with our camera. I asked him to bring me, shot glasses, coffee mugs and 'local fabric' from the country, at least a couple yards so I can possibly make a quilt or two!!!

This is the last e-mail I got from Bill today. I told him that it looks like he needs to get out of Guatemala, ASAP!!!

From Bill:
Good Morning,

The plane didn't go yesterday. Structures had some fastener issues and we found out, four hours before flying that we had six hours of work to do to configure it. So we are going today. Just had a little earthquake. It felt like a heavy truck rolling by and then all three volcanos blew some smoke. Gotta go, stuff is very close to the fan.
Next Stop San Juan Costa Rica.
Love Ya

Attached are some pictures I took of the volcanos, from the flight line here. There are pix of 4 volcanos. I'll try to get pix from the hotel tomorrow morning.

That is all folks, will let you know more later. He is in no danger at all, just kind of on 'shaky ground' LOL.
