Palm Springs Tram

Our grand daughter Lauren (age 17) has been visiting for the last few days out here with us in the desert. She has had a great time swimming, cooking, shopping with Carol and reading. Yesterday she and I took the Palm Springs Tramway from the desert floor to the top of the lower mountains for the day. Carol could not go as her pump does not operate properly above 7000 ft. and the top of the tram is about 8500 ft.

It was about 100 degrees when we departed the desert floor and about 65 degrees at the top Tram Station. It is a 3+ minute ride in a tram car that rotates as it goes up and down so everyone gets a view of everything. The ride is commanding as you leave the stark desert and climb through the various plant patterns to arrive in a beautiful forest with many huge out crop-pings of rock. It is impossible to describe the thousands of pictures that present themselves. Lauren and I walked all over up there on trails and sat on several view point benches just "Looking". You can see all the way over to the Arizona mountains, across the Salton sea and all about the mountain/desert areas below.

We had an unhurried lunch up there which was wonderful as the area where the main structures are has a great view from inside through floor to ceiling windows facing in most directions. I took a couple hundred pictures but have only included a few to show what we saw. In all it was a super late Morning - Afternoon time with my grand daughter.

She had a good time, saw things that she had never seen here in the desert and was rested. What else can one want from a trip to the Grand parents house !!!!!!!!!
