Shag Music Night

Wow, did we have fun tonight from before 5:45 until 8 p.m. We had a group come that the lead gal is the manager of Auburn Shag with four other people in the band. The lead gal was excellent (what a voice) and has three CD's out - two Gospel and one that is old time Country.

The whole band was really professional sounding, but mostly the lead gal. The band plays all over the area and she said they play almost every night someplace. They sang Patsy Cline music, Hank Williams, some Gospel and a lot of good songs from the 40's, 50's and 60's that all the seniors knew. We all sang along. They played for over two hours with one short intermission.

This was for all three buildings and we must have had at least 50 people, if not more, show up. Quite a few of the residents got up and danced. The other gal in the band played one drum and her husband comes along to be with her. They just had their 51'st wedding anniversary. She was from Kentucky (dressed like she was from TX) and a real kick in the pants.

The show was sponsored by Shag and they served all kinds of cookies and both kinds of coffee. It was a super good evening, but we sat in the same room with the band so my ears are ringing. The band set up in the Media Room and most of the rest of the people sat in the Rec Room. I was one of the first ones down there and I knew if I sat in the Rec Room, I could hear but, not see very well so five of us sat in the Media Room with the band - three guitars (two electric) and one drum. They played for over two hours with one short intermission.

Our new manager, Arlene, is such a blessing and so much fun. Arlene stayed until the very last person was out of there.
