Light Rail Ride

I had the "funnest" day today that I've had in a long time. Cheryl and John picked me up at 10:30 and we drove to the Tukwila Light Rail station (a train a little like the train I took to work from Oxnard to Glendale) and picked up the train that took us right to the end of the line in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel.

We went up some short escalators (John carried my walker) and elevators and went right into Nordstrom's where we all used the rest room. We saw a table of ties so Cheryl stopped to look at the price on one she liked and it was $100. Needless to say, she dropped the tie like a hot potato. We went on through the store and went right out onto Pine street in Seattle and then walked a little over one block to Starbucks, on Fourth Avenue, in a really unique, triangular building.

While Cheryl and John were getting our drinks, I started talking to a young woman and her husband who were here from Toronto, Canada. They were attending an energy conference and were staying in the downtown Hilton. When Cheryl and John got over next to us, John was giving them ideas on places to go. They were a very nice couple. John took all kinds of pictures with his cell phone the whole time we were gone today.

When we left there, we walked across the street to Westlake Park with businesses all around the area and went into See's Candies. We went back to Nordstrom's so I could go to the rest room again before we got back on the train. I have my Orca pass (for all busses and local trains) so it only cost me $.75 each way. Both Cheryl and John have free passes so all they had to do was "tap" their cards on a machine.

On the way home, I had John stop at Fred Meyer groceries so I could return something and then they brought me home where we arrived at 2:45. I certainly won't need to do any more walking today or maybe even tomorrow - my legs are totally worn out but it was worth every minute, and then some. On top of everything, the day was glorious with temperatures in the low to mid 70's.
