Bald Eagle

May 10, 2007

Time is growing short before Ralph and I leave to return to the desert. Tomorrow will be filled with clothes washing, packing up and a few little things here. Then we will get up very early on Sat. morning to drive back to the ferry terminal and take the 5 A.M. ferry to the mainland. Once there we will cross the Canadian border to the U.S at the Peace Arch entrance. Then on to Bellingham, Wa. to pick up Slim. We should arrive there about 8:30 - 9:00.

When we Carol and her new "treasures" in the Van off we'll go constantly heading South on I - 5 until we intersect I - 10. Once on I -10 we are about 3 hours away from home. This has been a very nice trip with all types of weather. Mostly great weather but some rain also. I am not really looking forward to the heat of the desert but then there is no avoiding it either.

I have attached one more picture that I took today while walking along the edge of the forest close to Ralph's house. A Bald Eagle came sweeping into a tall pine tree in front of me a short distance. It landed on an uppper branch and was looking around. The bird was in a good position where I could get a picture if I had time before it flew away again. I was able to get the Eagle in the SLR finder and zoom in on it. The attached picture is the first one but I was able to get a second photo however the bird had turned so it was not great. A moment later the eagle took to flight and went away from me behind the tree.

So thanks for riding along with me on this adventure. Next time I will understand my camera better and hopefully I get more pictures that may be interesting.
