Party with Friends & Elvis 08/27/16

Linda, Elsie and I all had such a great afternoon. This was a surprise 80th birthday party for Darlene so her daughter, Diane, told her that she was going to bring her down to see me. Diane, her sister Kathy and Darlene's step daughter put this birthday party together. Elvis (Danny Vernon) sang for about 20 or more minutes. He is Darlene's favorite person to go see performing. Diane took a picture of Linda, Elsie and me with Elvis on Linda's phone. We were all clapping to the music and some people let themselves be heard by whistling, yelling etc. The three of us got there at 1:30 and didn't leave until 4:30.

Michael Went To British Soccer Camp 08/05/16

We decided Michael needed to end the summer on a high note so we signed him up for the British soccer camp. It was a week long camp (August 1st -5th), where he got to learn some tricks on playing soccer, learning to use his listening and following direction skills. He got to play with other kids his age in soccer as well. He had an absolute fantastic time and I’m sure we will be doing this again next year. The only down side was that it was really humid and hot so it was a good thing Michael’s camp was from 9-10 when it was not too hot. He got his own soccer ball, shorts and jersey’s with the British camp logo so he can continue to practice. If he is still interested in soccer we may be getting him his own cleats. We had a wonderful opportunity to see the new Star Trek movie Beyond in Imax 3D and we took it. It was great fun. We then had dinner at a favorite resturant, Anthony's Home Port. Just awesome fish and chips!. Check out the pics.

Rachel At 6 Months 07/04/16

Rachel is sitting up on her own and grabbing at things (feet, toys and hair). She hasn't been interested in baby food yet but we're still trying. Rachel weighed in at 14.5lbs and is 24.5" inches tall. She is in the 10th percentile but that's to be expected for breastfed babies. We are now working on transitioning her to formula and continuing our efforts with the baby food. Wish us luck!!

Allen's Car 06/20/16

Ok, so I've been having troubles with my car. Over the past ten years I've had to put 7 timing belts on this engine. I have included a brief video. What I have done is enlisted the help of a roommate who is good with dremel tools and knows what bits to use and how.

Vantage Drive 06/08/16

An overcast sky and threat of rain couldn't keep us home on Wednesday. We picked up Barb and headed over the mountains to visit the Ginkgo Petrified Forest at Vantage, WA. Along the way we stopped to check out Lake Easton and found a very peaceful campground at the state park there. We encountered a few rain drops but otherwise it was a great day.

Hopeland Gardens 04/23/16

Saturday we took off with the kids to go exploring in Aiken, South Carolina and came across a place called Hopeland Gardens. It's a decent size garden, big enough to have a doll house, a horse racing museum, an outdoor stage and a couple of ponds with fish and turtles. We walked around and let Michael run around and checked out the turtles and fishes. Nice place for picture taking too.

We had a few days off and decide to check out a motel that had been enticing us for years. It was fun to walk through the surrounding vineyards and check out a very large barn. We drove through the winding Yakima River canyon where the spring clouds and flowers were beautiful. Enjoy the pictures!

It was a very nice family get-together as Allen, Barbara and Blanche joined us for Easter dinner. Cheryl made leg of lamb, ham, stuffing and seasoned, chopped, roasted potatoes. We had a great Skype call with Heidi, Artie, Michael and Rachel. We all had a nice visit.

Saint Patrick's Day Parade Video 3/12/16

The St Patrick's Day Parade in Seattle was on Saturday, March 12. There was a winter weather watch posted for lots of rain, flooding and high winds. Didn't matter, I wanted to go. The morning started a little wet but just before the start of the parade, the clouds parted (mostly) and the parade went on, no raincoats required. This year was well attended by both participants and spectators. There were several bagpipe groups, marching bands, dancers, dogs, wee ones on unicycles and the Seattle Pirates. It was windy, so hold on to your hats and enjoy the parade.

Rachel at 2 months 03/01/16

So on the first was Rachel's 2 month check up. She weighs 10lbs and is 22 inches long. In comparison, Michael was 10lbs 5.8oz and 21.46 inches long. So she's taller and weighs a little less than where he was at... Fun fact. Everything was good, she's healthy and received her 2 month series of shots. She ended up getting a fever afterwards and wasn't eating but I think that was normal due to the shots.
