Snow day 12/24/15
By Allen Schmit
Well I wasn't getting enough snow at my house. First picture is the house next door. You can kinda see the snow, but it wasn't sticking so... I went up into the Mt. Rainier foothills, east of Enumclaw to Greenwater to get a real taste for snow. At Greenwater there was around 5-6 inches of fresh fluffy powder. So my roommate and I played in it and took some pictures of the river. Just had to get out and enjoy the snow while its around.

We had an excellent evening for taking images of the total Lunar eclipse. Barb joined us as we set up our equipment behind the local school for the best view of the rising Moon. Cheryl was the first of the group of people gathered there to spot the Moon between the tall pine trees. We had a gentle breeze and yes, it was a bit cool as you can tell from the pictures. Using her Sony DSLR camera, Cheryl took some great images of the fully eclipsed Moon.

Kanaskat Palmer State Park 08/01/15
By Cheryl & John Schmit
We took our Sunday ride on July 26th and went to the 'other' end of Kent-Kangley Road. Kangley turned out to be a very small neighborhood. Nearby is another of Washington's great state parks, Kanaskat Palmer State Park. It is located east of Maple Valley on the Green River. There are day use facilities and camp sites available, but the big attraction is the river. Many use it for white water rafting. Right now there is very little water in the river.

He absolutely loves it and points to each one and says their name. Enjoy the pics!!!

7th Anniversary Walk 04/26/15
By Heidi Cardona
On Sunday Artie and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary by checking out a walking trail not to far from our house. The trail parallels the Savannah River. Such a beautiful serene walk we had. We had Michael with us so it was all serene because he started having a meltdown half way up the trail. :( Our turn around point was the locks and a park that had restrooms. Michael fell asleep on the way back so we didn’t stop as many times as we did on our way up the trail. We saw a few snakes on the trail (yeah no thanks). Artie made sure we were going to be bit and not following us. We hurried along after that. We walked a total of 8.5 miles. Whew! We were ready to jump in the river at that point. The high was 85 degrees but when we finished it was only 77 but felt like a 100 :) Must have been all the walking that made us so hot!! We drank lots of water to make sure we stayed hydrated. When we got home we all got showers to make us feel human again. Later on that day we decided to BBQ some chicken and I made a macaroni salad with tuna as well. Later on we had some Ice cream to top off a wonderful day! Here are few pictures of what we got to see on our walk. Enjoy!

Tulip Field Trip 03/29/15
By Barbara Lawrence and Cheryl & John Schmit
While it was not raining today, we took the opportunity to check out this years tulip crop in Mount Vernon. Most of the farmers have now put their tulip fields away from the roads so they can charge people for parking and some farmers even charge admission. This year the fields were muddy from recent rainfall. Many people walked out into the fields so they could get closer to the flowers. Cheryl used her telephoto lens and took a lot of pictures. It was an absolutely gorgeous day with all the different colors as well as a lot of fields of daffodils. We also saw a field of the Canadian Snow Geese. A fun day in the farmland of the Skagit Valley.
