Garden Update 06/26/10
By Daryl Lawrence
The garden is doing TOOOO good these days, we can't seem to give it, sell it, freeze it, can or pickle it, faster than it's growing!! We aren't even to the corn, pickling cucumbers, watermelon, tomatos and cantaloupes yet, probably another month before those get ready. Wish I could ship some to the northwest. I didn't know beforehand, that Butternut squash make vines like watermelons and go out into the yard!? Actually, INSIDE the garden they go every which way too. Live and learn for the future.

Father's Day 06/24/10
By John Schmit
Saw some snow in the mountains on the way to Tri-Cities for Father's Day. We had a wonderful time with Artie and Heidi at the Ice Harbor Restaurant in Kennewick. We checked out the new light house while there. The mountains looked great on the way home.

Flowers 06/24/10
By Susie Devries
It's hotter than blue blazes right now! 100+ degrees and then factor in the humidity. Our A/C went out on Sunday, and sleeping has been miserable, so has being awake for that matter!!! Hopefully today the A/C man will fix our air and we can be comfortable again.
In the meantime, as hot as it is out side, I took some pictures of flowers around my yard. I just thought they were so pretty and delicate despite the fact that it's so awful hot!!

Baby Birds 4 - Final 06/21/10
By John Schmit
The birds jump out of the nest, then back in (losing one in the process). Finally, they left for good. Cheryl heard the commotion, grabbed her camera and got a few good pictures of the birds before they fled into the bushes.

I put the spuds in on Good Friday and have continued to get more planted thru May 10. This year like last, my garden is 20ft x 300ft. I plant all my rows the 20ft way. Darn near every row crop is spaced 36" on center.

Today's Haul 06/12/10
By Daryl Lawrence
I KEEP finding these BIG veggies buried under leaves and branches, I need to look better, cause we know how they get tough when they get bigger. Anyway, about 40 to 50 pounds today, I will have several bags to sell on Monday at work. This past week, NOBODY knew what Summer squash is, so I cooked it at work and made them try it. NOW they want me to bring in some for them to buy... Samples anyone?

Corn After Storm 06/11/10
By Daryl Lawrence
The rain storm we had the day before yesterday did quite a bit of damage to the garden. I doubt the corn is going to come back, with being all bent over from the rain and wind... It WAS going to be sweet white corn too...

Errands Of Today 06/08/10
By Barbara Lawrence
Wow, am I pooped tonight. I guess I thought I had to do everything in one day and I sure tried. I got my WA drivers license this morning, came home for lunch, went to the Chamber, bank, Goodwill, Ikea (I needed more shelves for my bedroom) and I had to also return one shelf because it didn't have the hardware for it.

Today's Haul 06/08/10
By Daryl Lawrence
Note size of Summer squash in Jan's hand!!? I gotta pick them more often, before they get that big. About 20 to 25 pounds, looks like about every 3 days will get this. Probably more as the other plants "come on line", that we planted weeks after the original ones...

I put up a page of selected images from the bird cam. With the Momma bird sitting there, it was hard to see when the first ones hatched this morning. Enjoy!

Garden Pictures 06/06/10
By Frank Bingham
I am sending a few pictures of my garden and of some Snap Peas, Onions and Tomatoes I picked this morning. The garden veggies are as good as ever but some of the garden did not produce as much as usual. I only got 8 Broccoli out of 12 planted and the exact same thing with the Cabbage. Since these two were planted in the same part of the garden I am going to dug that all up and put in some new mulch. I have no idea what could be wrong there if anything.
