New Car 07/27/10
By John Schmit
We have been needing a larger vehicle for some time and this weekend found the opportunity to get one. Our neighbors referred us to a salesman who'd just helped them and Monday he put us in a 2010 Toyota Highlander Limited. It has just about everything you could ask for in a SUV. We're happy!

Becca's B-Day Party 07/25/10
By Cliff Chamberlin
Becca had quite a 3rd b-day party today. Dan and Margaret rented a 13x13 air filled (with compressor to keep up the air) bouncing castle. It would hold weight wise, 9 little kids, 5 bigger ones or one big kid (Daniel). The company put it up this morning at 8am and will come and get it at 7pm this evening. Becca called it a butterfly castle, which was the theme of the party to begin with. It did have wings up top.

A great time was had by all, including the big bouncer. Mugsy served hamburger lunch with the plenty of trimmings. The cake was great as well. None of the kids wanted to go home. The 4 yr old little girl across the street put up the biggest fuss about going home. Mugsy told her mom to bring her back after her nap.

Wow, what a good time I had today (Wednesday). Trinna (friend from church) met me at the Senior Center and we got on the van instead of one of the two buses - close to 50 people went. I met three other women on the van and the four of us yakked both ways.

Redondo Beach 07/15/10
By Barbara Lawrence
I went, by myself, to Redondo Beach today off of Pacific Highway (it's also Hwy. 99) - that's about 5 miles from where I live. I went to Salty's in Redondo (VERY FAMOUS) and if you look at their site on the web - www.saltys.com - they might show the prices - I haven't looked.

Afternoon Drive 07/14/10
By Barbara Lawrence
I went to Wendy's for lunch and then as I was driving home, I thought about how I always wanted to go up Willis so I did. Did I ever enjoy that ride and it took me to De Moines - fell in love with the area but mostly because it's along the water.

Today's Haul 07/01/10
By Daryl Lawrence
Picked about 150 pounds today... Even got a few Pickling cukes, one could fill a jar by itself!? Taking most of them to Jan's aunts house in Arkansas where we are going for the 4th. Sorry Susie, it's down on the Louisiana border. They run an assisted living home, so it will be devoured pretty quickly. Never thought Chicken poop would DO THIS!!?

I want to thank the muscles of Artie Cardona and Allen Schmit for their assistance in removing the Catalpa tree stump we had in our back yard. This was difficult work and they made it look so easy. Thanks also to Cheryl and Heidi for taking great pictures!
