September Project 09/30/08
By John & Cheryl Schmit
Over the last couple of months we have been gradually upgrading and reorganizing our home office areas in the house. Some of this was initiated by the need to replace our aging computers and a desire to get more use out of our loft area that we use as a library.

Honey Bees 09/21/08
By Susie Devries
I guess I have a lot to learn about Honey Bees. I filled the hummingbird feeders today, tonight one is completely empty! I am absolutely amazed at this. Never before have I had honey bees at my hummingbird feeders like this. They would come, but never drain the feeder so quick or even at all!

Bees 09/21/08
By Susie Devries
I filled my hummingbird feeders Friday, then took pictures of the bees. Today I looked out and was amazed to see the feeders were empty. So today I made extra. I've filled the two feeders and no sooner did I get them up and the bees were all over them! Pretty amazing.

Honey Bees 09/19/08
By Susie Devries
I think the honey bees like my hummingbird feeders more than my hummingbirds do. I put out fresh nectar today, had to shake the bees off the feeders. When I went back out, they were waiting for me and were quite happy with a fresh feed.

Ike 09/14/08
By Susie Devries
Ike came and went, gas prices soared and all that really happened was a bit of rain and some wind last night. Gustov gave us two solid days of nothing but rain, rain and more rain. We did get a little bit of rain this time, but mostly we got wind.

Gas Prices 09/12/08
By Susie Devries
Not only is Ike coming, but gas prices have also increased like mad. My son called me from the wrecker service he works at. One of the drivers filled up his wrecker, drove it over to the International Plant, 15 minutes later, drove it back to the lot, passing the station he had filled up at. In that time period, gas prices had increased .50 cents a gallon!!

Hurricane Ike 09/11/08
By Daryl Lawrence
Thought I'd give you the latest update from here in north east Texas, and what you might see on TV about Hurricane Ike coming at us. As everyone knows, once a hurricane hits land, the winds diminish WAY down, so they say by the time it gets up here, we may see winds in the 35 to 45 mph range, with 3 - 5 inches of rain forecast for Saturday.
