The Flood Aftermath 12/27/09

Here are some aftermath pictures we took today at Little Rock AFB and along Hwy 107. The small base lake is almost back to it's normal size. You can now see the bridges that were completely under water Thursday.

Blizzard 12/26/09

Our blizzard is finally getting over. No more power outages since yesterday at 5pm. This morning it is 8 degrees and the winds are down to 20 mph - gusts to 25. That's 1/2 of what the winds were all day yesterday.

A Flooded Christmas 12/25/09

While many people are having a white Christmas, we have a wet Christmas. We have gotten 75.54 inches of rain for the year of 2009 so far. That has crushed the old record set in 1882! I've enclosed some pictures we took yesterday of the flood waters at Little Rock Air Force Base.

Deer Sausage 12/18/09

I did something today that I have never done. I made some fresh deer sausage. Someone gave Michael and his friend a leg. He cut some off for steaks, gave me the leg and said can you make sausage out of this? I told him I'd try.

What I Did On My Winter Vacation 12/14/09

Preparations for the early December vacation began in earnest six weeks before. The plan was to purchase, prepare and deliver a new, Windows 7, notebook computer to Mom in Las Vegas. Cheryl couldn't get off work, so this was going to be a solo adventure.

Move 12/13/09

Just recently I moved a few miles up the road from where I was living before. I was in a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment with a large living room and a small deck. Now I'm in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with a small living room, fireplace, and a huge deck.

Picked up a new cam for our South view. This one has a much wider view and tolerates brightness very well. The cam itself is very small (less than one by two inches) and very light.

Bass Pro Shop 11/27/09

Here are some pictures I took at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO. It was a lighter moment after spending two very hard days attending the viewing and funeral of Grandma McWilliams. I have no pictures but after Bass Pro, we went to Lambert's, Home of the Throwed Rolls and feasted on more food than we could eat!!!

Vera Mc Williams 11/18/09

On Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2007 our family lost Wayne Mc Williams. He was my ex father in law and my son's Grandfather. He was the best! Last night, November 17, 2009 we lost Vera Mc Williams. She was my ex mother in law and my son's Grandmother. She was the best too!

Ben's Update 11/16/09

Ben went to the Cardiologist today and got a fine passing grade. They did a chest x-ray first so the Dr. could see the films. No more water on the lungs, so no more Lasix. Also no more pulmonary hypertension, which is the biggie. Come back in a month for another follow up appt. This as good as we could have asked for! The Morbacker household is now slowing down to just 3 little ones, which is a tornado by itself.
 
A Long Time Learning 11/15/09

I finally finished the music video of Heidi's graduation, "A Long Time Learning". This is my first attempt at composing and singing because I wanted to make this project special for Heidi. This is also the first use of Flash files on our website. Cheryl took the still images used in the video. Thanks to Cheryl for all her help and support.

Autumn and Scrambled Eggs 11/13/09

I have Autumn enrolled in a HIPPIE program. It's basically like a home school Head Start. Part of the lesson she has this week is to make some French Toast. I think she pretty much has that part of the lesson done already.

Ben Got Sprung 11/10/09

Benjamin was discharged from the hospital today about 1:30p. What a welcome outcome to this big deal. He has a follow up appt next Monday for wound care (incision) and another chest x-ray.

Ben Update 11/08/09

Ben is doing just fine. He was moved out of ICU this morning and up to a floor bed. They were going to move him yesterday, but did not have a floor bed available. That was fine with Candy, another night with close eyes watching is just fine. All the lines and tubes are out of him and no more oxygen. Sometime mid-week he'll get sprung and go home. It's been an uneventfull recovery so far. Candy said that's the kind nurses want. We are all grateful.
 
Madison Jessica Chamberlin, 9 1/2 Months 11/07/09

After a few requests, here is the update and brag letter for Madison. We went to our 9 month appointment last week, and Madison is 28" long (65%) and weighs 18 lbs, 12 oz (45%). She had her final Hep B vaccine and the first of two shots for seasonal flu and H1N1.

Ben's Second Heart Surgery 11/05/09

Ben had open heart surgery this morning at Children's Hospital in Denver. They needed to fix the big hole in his heart, that was the size of a dime. There was also a small hole up next to a valve that they hoped they could do something with.

Rain Part 3 10/31/09

OK, so we have had a lot of rain. Today the sun is out, it's really out and the sky is such a pretty blue!! One of the benefits of all this rain is that the changing colors of the trees are just beautiful. I hope to go out today and get some nice pictures. I also want to travel up Batesville Pike, which is only a 1/2 mile from us and get a picture of the caved in road. If they turn out good, I'll send some on.

Man oh man, did we get hammered with rain yesterday!! All day it rained, sometimes light, some times heavy. Along in the late afternoon big storms came through. There were some tornado watches but none developed. Our county had one for a time. Bill was coming home from California last night.

Earlier this month Nana came up from Texas and spent a week here in the Pacific Northwest. The weather cooperated and we were able to take several day trips. We had visits with both Heidi and Allen and had the chance to go sightseeing.

I drove to Tyler today and took the long way going down - 90.2 miles - and the short way coming home - 71.5 miles. One thing about driving in east TX, it is so gorgeous with ALL THE TREES and hills.

Ben's Heart Surgery 10/09/09

Ben had a cardiac catheterization done this morning at Children's Hospital in Denver. He is 8 1/2 months now and right at 20 pounds. They were able to close the Payton Ducts off solid. This is a vessel between the heart and lungs that is supposed to close itself at birth - his didn't close.

We left in the wee hours of the morning in Tampa, Florida on July 27th to make our way across the United States to our new home in Richland, WA. The area is also known as Tri-Cities because it is made up of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco cities. This is where Artie will be working as a Recruiter for the Army.

What a busy time the four of us have had over the last two days. Taking absolute full advantage of my two days off, Cheryl, Artie, Heidi and I did it all. We were tourists on Wednesday, riding the light rail into town and showing Artie Seattle. On Thursday, we all were workers as we dug into the Rhodie garden and moved plants.

Senior Citizen 08/07/09

July 14, I joined the Patrick Henry Hays Senior Citizen Center here in North Little Rock. It is a brand new place, very nice, and close, only about 4 1/2 miles from me. It's been open since '05 I think, I'm not sure. I thought you had to be 62 at least to join, come to find out you only had to be 50!! I said well, shoot, I'm nearly 60 so I guess I can join and did.

Here is the newest addition to the Riggen family. Matt and his wife, Jaime, welcomed James Roderick Riggen into our world Wednesday July 22, 2009. He weighed in at 8 pounds 9 ounces, 20 inches long. Mom and baby are doing wonderful!! In the picture, the white haired 'gramma' is James Great Gramma Riggen.

My neighbors in the back are finally replacing the old fence. It sure looks a lot nicer. Problem with today is the heat! It's been 95 today with a heat index of 110! It doesn't look like they got very much done today, but keep in mind just the son was out there working most of the day. When Dad got home, he came out and helped him put the new boards up. After it's all up, I am going to put some weather proofer on our side of the fence.

Hail 06/30/09

Here are some pictures of rain and hail we got just a while ago. I was on my front porch looking across the street and could hardly see my neighbors house. The other picture is just the hail, and then one of hail stones I picked up, that were easily 1 inch across. We had a lot of those!!
I had drained Autumn's little pool and after the first round of rain, it had 5 inches of water in it. It is sitting on our front deck under the trees so you know it rained hard!!

I took the clothes out of the dryer, went in the bedroom, folded them, put them away, came back to put the next load in and this is what I found. Do ya think he's comfy? I swear, cats think I dry clothes just so they can find a warm comfy spot, even if it's the hard part of the dryer!!

Benjamin was baptised at the Sat eve service on 5/9/09 in Lakewood CO. That was also Mugsy's 31st b-day, What a nice present. We had a great time and Ben was quite after the first 2 mins of his big doings, he fell asleep. The first 2 mins, everybody in the church knew his lungs work just fine now.

I have belonged to the Chamber since I moved here but was always an Ambassador before. Our President (also our Mayor) is the only one in the Chamber older than I am.

Western Washington Island 01/08/09

The Washington Department of Transportation has declared that the Puget Sound area of Western Washington has NO road connections with the rest of the United States or Canada. Interstate 5 and other roads to the north and south are flooded. All passes over the Cascade mountains are closed due to avalanches and slides. We are indeed, an island.
